The works of Emmanuel Barcilon echo the practices of photography, revelation and fixation. The artist turns on the light and the colors after having hidden them for a while. He rediscovers them, by chance or by choice, his act of painting is thought of as a journey made of successive variations until the final agreement: the fixation of the revelations. Emmanuel Barcilon applies successive layers of varnish mixed with pure pigments to the canvas. He steps in to add graphic elements such as skulls, anatomical drawings, words and newspaper clippings before continuing to apply more coats of paint. At the end of the process, various images, marks or colors are visible below the surface, some buried deeper than others. The use of cheerful and bright contrasting colors vividly with its deep texts and surprising images. The closer you get, the more details of the artist's mood take shape: a landscape of joy, anger, hope and frustration.

Emmanuel Barcilon applique sur la toile des couches successives de vernis mixés à des pigments purs. Il intervient pour ajouter des éléments graphiques tels que des crânes, des dessins anatomiques, des mots et des coupures de journaux avant de continuer à appliquer plus de couches de peinture. À la fin du processus, diverses images, marques ou couleurs sont visibles sous la surface, certaines enfouies plus profondément que d’autres.
